Effective use of experimental inquiry in physics courses is paramount. Unfortunately, there are many teachers who lack a proper understanding of inquiry-oriented teaching methods and as a result students may not become as scientifically literate as they should be.  In his article, “Experimental inquiry in introductory physics courses”, Carl Wenning explores this problem.

 

In their article “When Should We Care About Sustainability?” the Lautensachs explore the balance between sustainability and human security (or insecurity), and highlight the importance that this should be given to sustainable growth.

 

Precise definitions and measurements of sustainability are problematic. In Rani Selvanathan’s article “Measuring Educational Sustainability”, various models of sustainability measures are analysed in the educational context.

 

Science and Music are a common theme, usually applied to Western music. In “Science and Folk Music”, Brij Gupta uses the example of Hindustani and other Folk Songs as part of a cultural tradition which Science shares.
